Scholarships for September at UNCF

UNCF offers several national scholarships that close in September. Apply today!

Wouldn’t you like to start school this year with some extra financial support? Don’t forget about UNCF scholarship opportunities! Scholarships and internships are open for applications. Look at some of the opportunities UNCF offers high school and college students that can help them get to and through college. Visit any time to see what is open and complete the applications before the offers close.

Remember: Complete all steps for the applications!
You will not be considered for a scholarship, internship or program until you submit all the information and essays the application requires.


Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship
The scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts—Art or Art History (excluding performing arts), in any four-year institution. The award amount is up to $4,300. Closes 9/13.

June and Wylie Seldon Memorial Endowment
This need-based scholarship is available to current undergraduate students who are enrolled at a UNCF-member institution. Closes 9/13.

UNCF Health Careers Scholarship (Ohio)
The program is a merit-based scholarship, restricted to seniors at CSSM (Cleveland School of Medicine) at John Hay High School. Students must be enrolled on a full-time basis during the 2019-20 academic year. Closes 9/23.

Wm. Wrigley Foundation Scholarship
Candidates for this scholarship should be majoring in engineering, business, finance, accounting, chemistry, economics, computer science or marketing, and attending a UNCF-member institution. Closes 9/25.

Michael Jackson Scholarship
This scholarship offers up to $5,000 in financial assistance to communication arts and social science students attending a UNCF-member institution during the 2019-2020 academic year. Closes 9/26.

Procter & Gamble General Scholarship
The program is open to any academically achieving undergraduate students at any accredited four-year colleges or universities within the United States, and will focus on targeted fields in business, information technology and public relations. Closes 9/30.

Vertus Hardiman Endowed Scholarship
The program, which awards up to $5,000 is open to students in the college graduation classes of 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023. Students must be enrolled in any HBCU. Closes 9/30.

UBS/PaineWebber Scholarship

The scholarship is for current sophomores or juniors, who demonstrated outstanding academic within the various business disciplines at the targeted UNCF Institutions. The selected recipients will be awarded up to $8,000 during the 2019-20 academic year. Closes 9/30.

Pathways to Better Futures Program
The program connects college students and recent grads with hundreds of jobs and internships in Indiana. Closes 9/30.

Procter & Gamble STEM Scholarship
The Procter & Gamble STEM Scholarship is for undergraduate STEM majors at accredited four-year colleges or universities within the United States. Closes 9/30.

Malcolm X Scholarship for “Exceptional Courage”
The scholarship, created by Spike Lee to increase the awareness about the life and contributions of Malcolm X within society, is open to undergraduate students at one of the UNCF-member institutions. The program will provide scholarship support for students who have overcome difficult circumstances or challenges in pursuit of their college education. Closes 10/2.

Charleston Family Trust Scholarship
The scholarship is open to any African American undergraduate or high school senior. Four awards of up to $3,000, based upon a students unmet financial need, will be distributed. Closes 10/3.

Dr. Joseph A. Towles African Study Abroad Scholarship
The scholarship provides up to $10,000 for students at UNCF-member institutions to learn at an established university in Africa. Eligible applicants must currently be enrolled in a study abroad institution during the Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 semesters. Closes 10/7.

UNCF/FedEx Scholarship Program
The FedEx/UNCF Scholarship Program provides scholarship opportunities to undergraduate HBCU students in Fall 2019. The scholarship program is funded by the FedEx Corporation and provides up to $4,000 per year to eligible applicants who meet the criteria. Closes 10/7.

Major League Baseball Diversity Fellowship Program
Fellows will have the opportunity to work in baseball operations and see the inner workings of a front office. Areas of baseball operations include player development, scouting, research and development, and beyond. Closes 10/15.

The Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Scholarship Program
The program awards one $10,000 scholarship to an exceptional HBCU senior each year who has demonstrated high academic achievement, strong leadership skills, commitment to community service and unmet financial need. Closes 10/18.
