Government Shutdown Does Not Affect Fed Student Aid

UNCF wants students and parents to know that federal student aid is unaffected by the current partial government shutdown. The Department of Education’s FY19 budget is one of only four major departments with funds lasting until September 30, 2019.  For this reason, the Department’s federal aid processing will continue as normal.  Students, parents, and institutions of higher education, including UNCF’s 37 member institutions, should see no interruption in services from the Department of Education.

If you are using any type of federal aid for your education, including Pell grants, FSEOG grants, work-study and loans, your aid will be disbursed as planned and any forms will be processed according to regular Department standards and timelines.
