Be the Teacher all Students Deserve – Join Urban Teachers!
Ever thought about becoming an urban teacher? Urban Teachers is a teacher residency and master’s program in partnership with Johns Hopkins University School of Education in DC, Baltimore and Dallas/Fort Worth that will give you the training and support you need to launch your career in education. Urban Teachers prepares you to teach the whole child. You will get over 1500 hours of practice with a host teacher before you have your own classroom. You will get over 100 hours of 1:1 coaching tailored to your individual needs over the first three years. Every teacher at Urban Teachers also gets two certifications including one in Special Education—making you a highly desirable educator.
Urban Teachers connects you directly with our school partners, so you start getting a full-teacher salary in year two typically around $50,000. Because you get high quality preparation which is great for your students, you are more likely to be rated highly effective and benefit from higher pay each year. And, the preparation will continue to open doors to summer jobs and fellowships in teacher leadership in the early years of your career. Every teacher makes a four-year commitment to the students, families and communities they serve.
And, Urban Teachers provides an online math course if you need help passing the pre-professional tests required for teaching. Check out the free resource here.
Urban Teachers’ application is now open. The next deadlines are January 28 and February 25. But don’t delay if you want to get your city and program of study preference.
