UNCF Fact Sheet
UNCF, the country’s largest and most effective minority education organization, enables students to get the college education they need and that we as a nation need them to have.
UNCF changes lives by helping the students of today become the teachers, scientists, business people, doctors and nurses of tomorrow. As such, we are so much more than a collection of facts and stats. But we are extremely proud of our accomplishments. They include:
- Awarding more than 10,000 scholarships and internships each year so students from low- and moderate-income families can afford college tuition, books and room and board
- Raising more than $4.8 billion to send students to and through college since UNCF’s 1944 inception
- Providing operating funds to 37 member colleges and universities, making it possible for them to offer quality education while keeping their average tuition 26 percent lower than comparable institutions
- Advocating for education policy and student and financial aid by serving as the voice of students and HBCUs before Congress and federal agencies
