Job Description: 

The Relationship Manager for Outreach and Recruitment will assist in the management of outreach and recruitment initiatives and activities for the UNCF Koch Scholars Program (UKSP).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist with the coordination and facilitation of activities that will directly result in early identification of prospective applicants
  • Engagement and support of a student network, which includes parents/guardians, guidance counselors, teachers and community representatives
  • Assignments may be based on the geographical area in which the program is administered and/or the type of degree for which the scholarship is awarded (i.e. History, Engineering, Political Science, Economics, etc.)
  • Recruit and sustain a strong community network organization through multiple efforts in prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation.
  • Recruit locally and nationally (will require travel), as well as virtual outreach
  • Assist in the nomination, selection, screening, confirmation and awarding of scholarship recipients which includes reviewing financial and academic eligibility documents
  • Use UNCF databases to track, mine data and develop recruitment reports
  • Work with donors to design and implement effective programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with the desired result of program renewal, increases in funding opportunities and customer/client engagement
  • Participate in program development, strategic planning and implementation of various processes and other program activities
  • Respond to the general public and UKSP Scholar inquiries regarding program, award processes, scholastics and alternative scholarship opportunities via telephone, letter, e-mail and facsimiles
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; Masters’ degree preferred
  • At least three years’ experience in the education field
  • Familiarity with curriculum in higher education
  • Understanding of financial aid process preferred
  • Some program management experience desired
  • Prior outreach experience preferred
  • SalesForce software experience desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions from groups of managers,clients, customers and the general public
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions
  • Strong organizational and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally – greater than 50 percent
