Each year, thousands of people in hundreds of corporate and government workplaces around the country contribute millions of dollars to support UNCF’s important mission of changing the world, one college degree at a time. If you’re looking for a simple, highly-effective way to contribute to UNCF, ask your human resources department whether your company offers a workplace giving opportunity.


Why Invest in UNCF

 

Since 1944, UNCF—the United Negro College Fund—has helped minority students live the American dream by helping more than half a million young men and women graduate from college across the United States. Today, UNCF supports more than 50,000 students attending over 1,100 colleges and universities nationwide, including 37 UNCF-member HBCUs, thereby providing the opportunity for a college education at an HBCU or any other college or university.

 

How does UNCF raise funds?

Every year, UNCF receives generous support from dedicated corporations, foundations, organizations and individuals. UNCF also raises funds from thousands of individuals who make small donations to help talented, economically disadvantaged young men and women stay in school.

Workplace Giving

Employees support UNCF in a variety of ways: payroll deductions, one-time gifts and company-sponsored matching gifts. You choose the method of support that best fits your budget.

Payroll Deductions

Payroll deductions are convenient. They allow you the opportunity to have your gift deducted from your paycheck each pay period. Through payroll deduction, you can afford to be more generous because it spreads your contribution out over a year’s time.

Matching Gifts

Companies may match or support their employees’ contributions through payroll or one-time gifts. Companies may also support their employees’ volunteer efforts. To find out if your company has a matching gift program, contact your human resources, payroll or corporate relations department. If UNCF is not listed as a charity of choice, you can designate your gift by writing UNCF in the designation box at the bottom of your donor form.
