Continuing its 75-year tradition of raising awareness of HBCUs across the country and increasing the workforce pipeline for students of color at leadership conferences taking place in Newark, San Francisco, and Dallas

Today, UNCF announced its participation in the 2019 EmERGe conference, taking place in Newark, San Francisco and Dallas. EmERGe is the premier U.S. ERG conference that brings network and affinity groups from all industry sectors together to share effective practices to help their companies gain the competitive edge. By partnering with Diversity Best Practices, UNCF will raise awareness on the significant impact historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) play on local and regional economies and introduce our workplace initiatives to new prospects within corporations.

“UNCF is an amazing organization that Diversity Best Practices is proud to partner with. Our shared mission to advance students and employees of color enables us to bridge pathways and create opportunities through mutual collaboration,” said Deborah Munster, Executive Director, Diversity Best Practices.

For 75 years, UNCF has supported hundreds of thousands of deserving students, private HBCUs and advocated for minority higher education. As a leading ambassador and supporter of corporate diversity, UNCF is creating pathways for students of color. “UNCF has strived to change the HBCU narrative across the nation,” said Harry Fulmore, regional director, UNCF Workplace Initiatives. “By partnering with Diversity Best Practices to raise awareness of our mission, we are equipping more students of color with the resources necessary to transition into college, graduate and ultimately expand and diversify America’s highly educated workforce.”

During the summit, ERG leaders from Fortune 500 companies will come together for peer-to-peer learning, skill-building workshops, and networking with colleagues from a variety of affinity groups and business sectors. Some of the top industry leaders, including Rosanna Durruthy, Global Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, LinkedIn; Bo Young Lee, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Uber and Tonia Woodbury, Vice President, Supplier Diversity Manager, Wells Fargo; will share their effective practices on how to make ERGs strategic, sustainable, innovative and engaging. Attendees will also learn effective and creative solutions and gain new ideas for maximizing the business value of their ERGs while helping to make them stronger, more relevant and valued.

The EmERGe Leadership conference will explore how ERG leaders are advocating for their members as well as for change in their organizations and in their communities.
