Wiley College, founded in 1873 in Marshall, TX, is a historically black, primarily liberal arts, residential, co-educational, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with The United Methodist Church.
Committed to the principle of educational access, the college serves traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds who have expressed a desire and potential for learning in a Christian environment. The college, in fulfilling its basic purpose of providing a liberal arts education with a global focus, endeavors to provide an intellectually stimulating environment, promoting student competencies in communication, as well as, critical and analytical thinking.
The college also supports spiritual, ethical, moral and leadership development. The faculty provides a rigorous curriculum for preparing graduates for professional or graduate studies and/or productive careers in traditional and emerging career fields.

Couple Makes $2 Million Gift to Wiley College
During a nostalgic visit to the Wiley College campus to bid a final farewell to the 16th President, Dr. Haywood L. Strickland, Mr. Gene and Trustee Patsy Ponder presented an unrestricted gift of $2 million to the College. In making this gift to the institution, the Ponders said that they were doing so to honor President Strickland’s eighteen years of distinguished service to Wiley College, the Marshall Community and The United Methodist Church. >> Read More

Wiley College to Create HBCU Speech and Debate League (6/15/17)
Wiley College has been awarded a grant through the Charles Koch Foundation to create a Historically Black Colleges and Universities Speech and Debate League, or HBCU League, that will assist in the creation of competitive forensics teams at HBCUs. Wiley College's a cappella choir has a special role in a new film that hits theaters nationwide this week. The group recorded "Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray" for the movie, The Birth of a Nation.
