Hyatt Regency San Francisco Embarcadero
UNCF will host 150 computer science and engineering students and faculty from the nation’s historically black colleges as part of its fifth annual HBCU Innovation Summit November 4-6, 2019.
This exciting week will culminate with a recruitment fair and the annual UNCF A Mind Is Gala, featuring some of UNCF’s outstanding student scholars from this year’s Summit. Each year, UNCF acknowledges the contributions of individuals and corporate partners who support UNCF. The evening is comprised of a formal banquet, auction and live performance by a professional recording artist.
The HBCU Innovation Summit brings together global industry leaders in technology and engineering, computer science faculty and students to work towards aligning HBCU curriculum content with current industry standards and provide students the opportunity to apply for internships and permanent positions with participating tech and engineering partners. The week is comprised of on-campus site visits with Summit partners’ recruiters, coding challenges and tech interview preparation; workshop topics on AI, machine learning and cyber security.
UNCF leads the nation in higher education investments in historically black colleges and the students who attend them – second only to the US government. The work of UNCF in support of these institutions is integral to preparing African American college graduates to thrive in a highly competitive global marketplace particularly in the fields of science and technology. In fact, UNCF’s network of historically black colleges produce more graduates earning STEM degrees than any other single or network of US colleges and universities.
Presented by UNCF San Francisco and the UNCF San Francisco Leadership Council.
