Paine College Receives $1M Gift from Local Businessman
Donor Peter Knox said he did not want the announcement to be about him but about his belief there should be “more, not fewer, centers for learning and growth.”
Paine College president Jerry L. Hardee has a million reasons to be grateful to Peter Knox IV.
Hardee announced Wednesday afternoon that the Augusta businessman donated $1 million to the financially troubled school to help build back up its endowment. Knox “has taken a leap of faith in Paine College,” Hardee said. “I have to work hard to justify Peter Knox’s faith in me as president.”
