Winter break is the perfect time to apply for summer internships. UNCF suggests these opportunities:

UNCF-Walton K-12 Education Fellows Program: Apply by January 8, 2018

The Walton-UNCF K-12 Education Fellowship Program is a leadership and talent development initiative aimed at building a robust pipeline of high-achieving African Americans engaged in education reform in America. The program selects undergraduate juniors from HBCUs to participate in a leadership development and paid intern placement program that partners with innovative K-12 education reform enterprises. One of the principal elements of the paid summer internship program that exposes fellows to professional careers at leading K-12 education organizations and schools focused on education reform. Specifically, fellows are deployed as interns to organizations and schools located in such cities as Boston, New York, Washington, DC, Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago, Indianapolis, Memphis and Nashville. Examples of internship host organizations include Teach for America, New Schools Venture Fund, Paul Public Charter School, BUILD, Black Alliance for Educational Options, Thomas B. Fordham Research Institute and Stand for Children. During their internships, fellows apply what they have learned, acquire new skills, gain an understanding of the professional needs of education reform organizations and make meaningful contributions.

UNCF/Carnival Corporate Scholars Program: Apply by January 19, 2018

The UNCF/Carnival Corporate Scholars Program, sponsored in partnership with Carnival Corporation, is seeking college sophomores and juniors of color, with an interest in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry and whose experience in their first two years of college demonstrates leadership and strategic and analytical ability. Candidates will be selected to participate in a two-year scholarship and internship at various Carnival Corporation host sites for summer 2018. Internship components include a paid summer internship, a two-year renewal scholarship up to $5,000 based on financial need, career coaching and participation in the UNCF Student Leadership Conference in Washington, DC.

UNCF-Anthem Corporate Scholars Program:  Apply by February 17, 2018

The UNCF/Anthem Corporate Scholars Program is a nationwide workforce initiative that creates career opportunities for minority students. The internship is open to college juniors of color for a paid internship for eight weeks during the summer 2018 to develop a diverse workforce in various fields within the healthcare insurance industry based on our nation’s future hiring needs. Summer internship opportunities will be offered at various Anthem business locations in Norfolk, Richmond and Virginia Beach,VA; Atlanta, GA; St. Louis, MO, Albany, NY, Wallingford, CT, and Indianapolis, IN. Each candidate will be expected to present to key project/department staff a final report and/or presentation of their internship experience. Housing will not be provided by the program.
