Government Affairs Vision

Enhance development of more robust and sustainable public and private partnerships that support the UNCF mission and activities falling under the three pillars while driving well-resourced and sustainable approaches and solutions.

Primary Focus

The UNCF Government Affairs team is focused on securing resources for UNCF and our member institutions, influencing policy developments and policy implementation, enhancing organizational visibility and creating and strengthening public and private partnerships. Our goal is to ensure we will fulfill our key objectives through a cohesive and well organized approach tied to UNCF's mission. Our strategic objectives include the following:

  • Protect and secure funding that is of relevance to HBCUs
  • Connect and leverage efforts internally to promote efficiency and maximize effectiveness
  • Connect and leverage efforts externally (lobbying, education and awareness) to maximize opportunities before Congress and the executive branch.
  • Strengthen existing external collaborative and partnerships
  • Enhance visibility in general
HBCU Facts
  • The first HBCU, Cheney University in Pennsylvania, was founded in 1837. All HBCUs play a critical role in the American higher education system.
