Job Description:

This individual will be responsible for conducting comprehensive, cost-effective annual and as needed, capital fund-raising campaigns, within the Houston area of operation, to support the 37 UNCF member institutions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Identify, recruit direct and liaison with volunteer leadership in assigned territory.
  • Develop and maintain formal campaign organizational structure in concert with National UNCF leaders.
  • Develop local campaign goals
  • Plan and implement campaign strategies consistent with UNCF national action plan and policies.
  • Develop and submit solicitation proposals.
  • Manage, design and implement fund-raising events.
  • Develop and prepare campaign materials, communication/promotional programs in support of established fund-raising efforts in assigned territory.

    Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required and at least 10 years experience in fund-raising.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in conducting major fund-raising activities, including capital campaigns and annual giving drives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations.
  • Ability to develop proposals or concept papers.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and managerial skills.
  • Excellent fiscal and budgetary management skills; demonstrated initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills; and ability to work on various projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Additional Requirements:

  • An interest in post-secondary education.
  • Experience in conducting major fund raising activities, including capital campaigns and annual giving drives.
