UNCF Statement Regarding Ad Council Public Service Advertisements (PSAs)
UNCF and the Ad Council recently launched a series of new public service advertisements (PSAs) in an effort to encourage investment in the college education of young African Americans. The goal of this and any other public service campaign is to reach as many people as possible with our message.
The Ad Council distributes PSAs to hundreds of media companies nationwide who run their messages in donated time. Neither UNCF nor the Ad Council has purchased any ad time on any program to air our PSAs. Placement of our PSAs does not imply support of any media program or its spokesperson's ideologies. The choice to air an Ad Council PSA is made by an individual station, and neither UNCF nor the Ad Council has control over when, where or on which programs the ads air or appear.
UNCF is grateful to the stations throughout the country who donate their air time to share our important messages with the American public. We hope these PSAs will inspire all Americans to view educational scholarships for minority youth as a worthy investment.
