The Monsanto Fund/UNCF 1890's Scholars Program will provide scholarships to ten African American college sophomores or juniors majoring in Agronomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Entomology, Engineering (mechanical, electrical, seeds process and chemical) Computer Science (application development, global ERP development, infrastructure services, research oriented information technology), Plant Breeding, Automation Technology, or Ag-related field to attend any of the eighteen 1890 institutions. Preference will be given to students who are residents of farm communities which is defined as: Farming community is any area other than (1) a city or town that has a population of greater than 50,000 inhabitants, and (2) the urbanized areas contiguous and adjacent to such a city or town.
