Google strives toward one overarching mission: to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Google believes that the diversity of perspectives, ideas, and cultures leads to the creation of better products and services. UNCF and Google share a common and critical goal to ensure that America has the requisite scientific and technological talent to compete in today's global economy.
As part of Google's ongoing commitment to advancing computing and technology, they have partnered with UNCF to provide scholarships to encourage students to excel in their studies and become active role models and leaders. The UNCF Google Scholarship Program will help to remove the financial barriers that cause so many African American students to abandon their pursuit of a computer science or computer engineering degree.
Applicants must be entering their senior year of undergraduate study or be enrolled in a graduate program in 2008-2009 at an accredited college/university in the United States. Selected students will receive a $10,000 scholarship during the 2008-09 academic year.
Google Scholars will also be invited to attend a retreat at Google headquarters in California in the spring of 2009. |
