Early Childhood Education in Rural Communities: Access and Quality Issues
Early Childhood Education in Rural Communities: Access and Quality Issues
This Monograph focuses on the current status of early childhood education in rural communities. Authors were invited to discuss contemporary issues that face rural communities as they seek creative ways to implement recommendations to make quality early childhood education more accessible to families given the importance of the early years. Section I examines disparities among ethnically diverse children in rural and non-rural communities while Section II examines the issue of access in greater depth as well as challenges families in rural communities confront when making decisions about early care and education placements for their children. Finally, Section III includes three papers on workforce development issues within the US and from an international perspective.
