2010 National Alumni Council Conference Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Description: The UNCF NAC/NPAC annual Leadership Conference is a 4-day symposium filled with excellent opportunities for networking, motivational, and educational workshops and events for alumni, pre-alumni (students), college presidents, and UNCF staff. In addition current and potential supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) show and renew their commitment to increasing educational opportunities for minority students.

The conference workshops/presentations are designed to establish a climate of collegiality and information exchange. The Conference will focus on preparing attendees for leadership and action. It enables the NAC/NPAC to implement its mission of assuring educational access and opportunity for deserving minority scholars. The Conference is the pinnacle event of the NAC and is supported by UNCF through staffing and resources. UNCF delights in this opportunity through the Leadership Conference to highlight the accomplishment of its alumni and students and welcomes participation and partnerships with corporate, community, and individual donors.

8th Annual Mayors' Black History Month Luncheon Friday, February 05, 2010

30th Annual WIAC/UNCF Black College Career Day Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Description: The Washington Inter Alumni Council (WIAC) of UNCF will sponsor its 30th Annual Black College Career Day. The fair will take place at the Family Life Center of the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, 1730 Vermont Avenue - Washington, DC. This fair has proven to be the best organized black college fair in the area. We expect to have 45 to 55 HBCUs at the fair and over 2,000 students from 14 to 16 school districts. All of the students will be college bound sophomores, juniors, and seniors who plan to attend historical black colleges.
Please note that a second fair is scheduled from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Richard Montgomery High School. The Richard Montgomery Fair is co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County Chapter of the NAACP. This fair will primarily be attended by students and parents from public and private schools in the county. Richard Montgomery High School is located at, 250 Richard Montgomery Drive - Rockville, MD. Information will also be available for students concerning financial aid, planning for college, ROTC programs and other funding sources. More than 200 role models will be available to talk to students about chosen careers and planning for life. Your fellow alumni and other professionals will be serving as role models. We need persons to represent your school as college recruiters and we need persons from your school to represent your school as career role models. You and/or other local alumni can represent your school. Please do your part, complete and return appropriate forms. Make a commitment to make our fair the best we ever had by making sure your school is there and is well represented. PLEASE RESPOND BY DECEMBER 15, 2009.

UNCF 2nd Annual Yesterday for Tomorrow Friday, February 26, 2010

Description: The Philadelphia Area Office presents its Second Annual Yesterday for Tomorrow - A Celebration of Black History Reception to encourage family, friends, corporations, businesses and community leaders to invest in minority education. The reception provides UNCF and the Philadelphia Metro Area community an opportunity to celebrate black history and raise funds to help local students reach and achieve their dreams, a college education. Philadelphia Metro currently supports approximately 1,100 students annually from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Southern New Jersey and West Virginia. This year, our Yesterday for Tomorrow reception will be held at The African American Museum in Philadelphia from 6-9 P.M. The evening will feature local UNCF scholars and a performance by the Cheyney University of Pennsylvania Concert Choir. Our guests will also have an opportunity to experience the museum, which features the exhibit, Audacious Freedom: African Americans in Philadelphia.

Red, Hot & Snazzy Benefit Gala Saturday, February 27, 2010

Description: "RED HOT & SNAZZY", an elegant black-tie gala benefiting UNCF- the United Negro College Fund, was created in the early 90s and then made a comeback in 2000. This very popular Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex signature event features a VIP awards reception, live and silent auctions, fine dining, dancing and national entertainment.


The tradition continues with the 11th Annual Red Hot & Snazzy Benefit Gala on Saturday February 27, 2010 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Dallas. This year's Gala chairs are Gloria and Fred Marsh - VP Operations State Farm Insurance. The occasion begins with a silent auction & reception, followed by a dinner program that includes a live auction and concert performance by a national recording group ZAPP who will perform their popular hits "More bounce to the ounce", "Computer Love"and more!

An estimated 600+ professionals, educational and business leaders, students and other UNCF supporters will be in attendance.

The 4th Annual Music for the Mind Benefit Gala Saturday, February 27, 2010

The 4th Annual "Music for the Mind" Benefit Gala includes dinner, live auction, and live jazz concert. The mission of the gala is to recognize the corporations, foundations, and individuals in the Pacific Northwest who have made a commitment to support minority education.

This year, our "Music for the Mind" Benefit Gala will be held at the Experience Music Project in Seattle from 6pm-9pm. The evening will feature music from our very own UNCF member school, Morehouse College's Jazz Band in addition to local entertainment. Furthermore, we will present our Dr. Frederick D. Patterson Awards to The Paul Allen Family Foundation and Dr. George Wallerstein for their continued commitment to UNCF. Our guests will also have the opportunity to experience the museum, which features the Jimi Hendrix: an Evolution of Sound exhibit, On Stage, and Sound Lab.
