Our Alumni

Alumni, Pre-Alumni and UNCF Supports:

Greetings!! Welcome to Conference 2008 in Montgomery, AL. We gather in this historic venue to celebrate the volunteer spirit of alumni and pre-alumni and to re-focus our attention on the legacy and responsibility that have been entrusted to us. What an exciting place for us to assemble to strategize and mobilize our forces: Montgomery, a city renown for its role in the modern civil rights movement.
“Crossroads,” the key word in our theme, reminds us of where we are now, the 21st century, and what we must do to if we are to continue the battle begun by our forefathers in this very city many years ago. The workshops and the speakers for the seminars and major events of Conference 2008 will challenge us to once again be reminded of our commitment to evaluate what is required if we are to insure the continued existence of the 39 UNCF colleges and universities that make education a reality for over 65,000 students. “Crossroads”: where we go from here is determined by each of us making a personal sacrifice for UNCF as well as our individual alma maters.
A special thank you is extended to Mayor Bobby Bright and the local host committee in Montgomery, AL., for extending their time and resources in helping to plan Conference 2008. We look forward to an exciting time and seeing you there. We thank you for what you do and your continued belief that “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

Sincerely,
Rubye Taylor-Drake, Ed.D.
