For Students
Information on UNCF Benefits for Students

Access to a college education has never been more important for individuals and society! A college education opens up unlimited possibilities and helps students to discover and foster their unique gifts. It also demonstrates that students are willing to make an investment in their own futures. However, for many young people this investment cannot become a reality, because they are unable to afford the rising cost of college tuition. For students, we administer an array of scholarship programs.

Since 1985, the UNCF Program Services Department has awarded in scholarship assistance over 105 million dollars to over 28,000 students enrolled in colleges and universities across the nation. The programs that UNCF administers offer different opportunities for students such as internships, mentorships and leadership development.

Programs which offer paid internships, help college students gain invaluable professional experience at America's recognizable corporations and national organizations.

Through its Merck/UNCF Science Initiative, United Negro College Fund has funded more than 300 research fellowships at the postdoctoral, pre-doctoral and undergraduate levels to increase the exposure of minorities to research fields and to help researchers identify talented professionals who can lend their expertise to scientific and other research endeavors.
