UNCF ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TELEVISION BROADCAST OF
AN EVENING OF STARS^® TRIBUTE TO LIONEL RICHIE

UNCF—the United Negro College Fund—will broadcast its An Evening of Stars^® Tribute to Lionel Richie nationally on more than 35 stations in major markets, and on WGN at 11 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, Jan. 23, and BET Networks on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 10 p.m. (EST). Star Power, UNCF's on-line giving campaign also celebrates minority education and provides AEOS viewers and Lionel Richie fans an opportunity to easily support UNCF. STARS COME OUT TO HONOR LIONEL RICHIE FOR AN EVENING OF STARS^® PRESENTED BY TARGET

An all-star lineup of performers and presenters came out to celebrate the career and commitment to education of Lionel Richie at the taping of UNCF 31st annual television special, An Evening of Stars^® on this past Saturday. UNCF presented Richie with the Award of Excellence for his successful career and longtime support for education. Richie is a graduate of the prestigious UNCF-member school, Tuskegee University. An Evening of Stars^® Tribute to Lionel Richie Presented by Target taped before a live audience at the Pasadena Civic in Pasadena, CA, and will air nationwide on Jan. 23 and 24, 2010, on BET Networks and WGN America and on more than 40 other stations in major cities.

The 31st edition of An Evening of Stars^®, UNCF’s annual televised celebration of excellence in entertainment and education, will take the stage before a live audience at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Sept. 12 with an all-star tribute to Lionel Richie, a graduate of UNCF-member school Tuskegee University. The program will air in January 2010 on BET, WGN America and more than 40 television stations in major markets across the country.

International superstar Lionel Richie, the winner of five Grammy^® Awards and numerous other awards, will be honored by UNCF—the United Negro College Fund—at its 31st annual An Evening of Stars^® (AEOS) at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sept 12, 2009. AEOS will be televised nationwide in January 2010. A graduate of Tuskegee University, a UNCF-member university, Richie will receive UNCF’s Award of Excellence for his long and distinguished career as a singer, songwriter and record producer and his history of support for minority education.
